Thiruvananthapuram

thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvanathapuram, also known as Trivandrum located at the South Western coast of the India, the Capital City of Kerala still remains its regal ambience with a number of colonial and traditional buildings. This beautiful seaside city built on seven hills. The city derives its name from the deity at the Sree Anantha Padmanabhaswami Temple, one of the major landmarks of the place. The name of the city is derived from the words Thiru-Anantha-Puram, means the abode of the sacred snake-god Ananthan, on whom Vishnu, the God of Preservation, is believed to be reclining. Thiruvananthapuram is the second largest populated district in Kerala. The Metropolitan Engineering Company, Travancore Titanium Products, Kerala Automobiles, Hindustan Latex, English India Clay Ltd, Vikram Sarabhai Space Center, Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station, Tropical Bottanical Garden and Research Institute and Sree Chithira Medical Center are situated in the district. The city has good shopping areas and a variety of comfortable and reasonably priced hotels. A long shoreline, with internationally renowned beaches, historic monuments, backwater stretches and a rich cultural heritage makes this district a much sought after tourist destination.
